The race for the first smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 898 is launched. The battle would be fought between a reputable brand in the market and one that is trying to make a comeback.
According to a reliable source, the Xiaomi 12 would be the first phone with Qualcomm’s next processor. Motorola would closely follow the Chinese brand.
The Xiaomi 12, the first smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 898?
According to the leaker Digital Chat Station, reliable but which has however already been wrong a few times, Xiaomi and Motorola will be the first two manufacturers to offer a smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 898. Hostilities should be open with the Xiaomi 12, which will be the very first phone to run under the latest processor from Qualcomm.
History is repeating itself, since in 2020 already the Mi 11 had won the race for the Snapdragon 888. The Chinese brand would however be closely followed by Motorola, which plans to launch a high-end phone equipped with the Snapdragon 898 as quickly as possible in order to return with fanfare to the smartphone market.
At the same time, another leaker (Ice Universe) asserts, relying on the scores Geekbench, that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 should offer a power gain of 15% over the Snapdragon 888 and 5% over the 888+ model. These figures, however, are only based on an unfinished version of the SoC and could change by the time it is announced in early December.
As mentioned earlier, Qualcomm will launch a new flagship chip in early December. Over the last three years, Xiaomi’s CEO has appeared on the same stage, confirming the manufacturer’s commitment to him. I was hoping that Samsung would be the second company to launch the SD898 flagship. However, according to a recent report, the Galaxy S22 series has been postponed until February 2022. So it’s not surprising that Motorola outperforms one of its major competitors, at least in time.
