Like most manufacturers for 2 or 3 years now, Xiaomi has been launching its premium smartphones in sets of three (too bad for the planet). In 2022, it is therefore the Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12X which will have the heavy task of competing with the iPhone 13, Galaxy S22 and other Find X5s.
Behind a neat design hide all the standards of 2022. Xiaomi says it has designed its range based on three essential points: the photo and video experience, entertainment and performance.
Performance and ultra-fast charging
The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro both ship the Snadragon 8 Gen 1 chip, the latest generation platform developed by Qualcomm. More affordable, the 12X incorporates a more modest processor (Snapdragon 870) but still solid. Enough to offer three models with excellent performance. It remains to be seen if the Chinese has managed to tame Qualcomm’s latest chip, especially in terms of heat dissipation.
Performance is good, endurance is better. The Xiaomi 12, 12X and 12 Pro have 4500 mAh (12 and 12X) and 4600 mAh (12 Pro) batteries. Above all, they are accompanied by a fast charging system including (for the 12 Pro), Xiaomi HyperCharge 120W technology promising a full recharge in about fifteen minutes. The Xiaomi 11T Pro was the first to benefit from it.
The other two are compatible with 67W wired charging (already very fast). The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are also compatible with 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse charging. Everything is managed by the AdoptiveCharge function which allows you not to crush the battery too much over the cycles. It promises.
Cut out for multimedia
To offer a multimedia experience to the small onions, Xiaomi puts the small dishes in the big ones. Its three models are equipped of AMOLED DotDisplay screens rated A+ by DisplayMate. They all support TrueColor (better colorimetry), Dolby Vision and sound technologies protected by ultra-resistant Gorilla Victus glass.
Of course, the 12 Pro got a bit more attention. HDR10+ compatible, it is also SGS Eye Care certified (care given to visual acuity) and, above all, incorporates a panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz (same for the Xiaomi 12).
The Pro model also comes with a advanced sound system developed with Harman Kardon and Dolby Atmos certified. Four speakers deliver stereophonic sound for better immersion. And to take full advantage of all these technologies, Xiaomi offers free access to Youtube Premium for 3 months.
Gifted in photography and (especially) in video
Xiaomi is not stingy with superlatives to qualify the photographic material of its Xiaomi 12. “All three phones feature a pro-grade triple camera” can we read in the press release of the mark.
More precisely, the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro incorporate a 50 Mpxl main sensor capable of filming in 8K. The 12 Pro even has three 50 Mpxl sensors, just that.
Beyond hardware, Xiaomi highlights the power of its AI which, thanks to several optimizations, would allow the Xiaomi 12 to compete with the best photophones on the market.
Xiaomi ProFocus is a powerful autofocus capable of tracking objects. Ultra Night Video is a night mode for shooting videos. And One-click AI Cinema allows you to edit videos quickly.
The Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12X will be available respectively starting at $749, $999, and $649. Xiaomi will present these new products in France this week, with prices and dates of availability for France.
