1- Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 / Pro
The best smartphone under 200 euros 2022
Sold around 200 euros, the Redmi Note 11 is a device that offers balanced performance, even some excellent points such as its AMOLED DotDisplay 90Hz screen, which is also very bright (up to 1000 nits) in a formula designed to appeal to the immense majority of users. The design (polycarbonate) is extremely modern and neat, with a matte finish and sought-after colours.
The photo part, without being exceptional, is rather above average in this price range. Especially since the device is designed around a Snapdragon 680 chip engraved in 6 nm which delivers excellent performance – enough to play most of your favorite games smoothly. Added to this is a huge 5000 mAh battery, compatible with 33 W fast charging (100% in one hour).
Those who are ready to pay a hundred euros more can afford the Pro version: this one offers a brighter 120 Hz screen, a more premium chip, and better photo sensors.
2- OPPO A76
The other best smartphone under 200 euros 2022
You have probably recently followed the launch of the Oppo Find X5, the most high-end smartphones from the number 1 manufacturer in China. But Oppo also launched a few weeks ago another very interesting entry-mid-range product: the Oppo A76. For a price of 200 euros, we have a Snapdragon 680, one of the most powerful chips available in this price range, associated with 6 GB of RAM.
The device offers a fun, very modern design, with innovative colors. The Oppo A76 has a beautiful 90Hz LCD screen with a punch at the top left for the selfie sensor. The photo sensors are a little worse than on the Redmi Note 11 even if they pretty much do a similar job. All smartphone sensors have night mode to take better pictures in the dark.
The device is only 4G compatible (but this remains a non-problem in France in 2022). It has an extra large 5000 mAh battery compatible with 33W fast charging. More generous than Samsung or Apple, Xiaomi still includes the fast charger in the box, in addition to other accessories like the case.
3- realme 7i
The best smartphone under 200 euros 2022 for autonomy
No need to prolong the suspense: in itself, the realme 7i is no match for the best smartphone under 200 euros in this comparison. Its LCD screen only displays content in HD +, its thickness makes it bulky and its MediaTek Helio G85 chip (combined with 4 GB of RAM) is not dazzling.
In contrast, its 6000 mAh battery allows it to position itself as the most enduring smartphone of its category. And if the absence of a fast charger forces you to wait more than 2h30 to fully recharge it, you can easily live with it.
The realme 7i gets away with the honors in terms of photography, without however reaching the level of the best. Corn it is available around 150 euroswhich immediately makes it more interesting.
4- Samsung Galaxy A12
The best smartphone under 200 euros at Samsung
With the Galaxy A12, Samsung is not making any tricks. Offered between 150 and 180 euros, this smartphone (made of plastic) in an imposing and heavy format (205 g on the scale) goes to the essentials. No AMOLED panel but a 6.5” LCD screen very well calibrated which will perfectly meet the expectations of multimedia enthusiasts.
No frills under the hood either: the Galaxy A12 runs on Mediatek’s Helio P35 which, let’s face it, is not the most efficient. Some slowdowns even sometimes invite themselves to the party. Samsung makes up for it by equipping it with a nice 5000 mAh battery allowing two days of use. Mostly the Galaxy A12 is pretty good in photosone of the weak points of most smartphones under 200 euros.
The Galaxy A12 will therefore be suitable for those with a very small budget – from this point of view it is close to the best smartphone under 200 euros.
5- Poco M3
The best smartphone under 200 euros for design
When it was released, the Poco M3 caused a stir. Not for its autonomy, which is just as incredible as that of the realme 7i (it also has a 6000 mAh battery), but for its original design to say the least.
It is characterized by a very comfortable textured plastic back but above all an imposing photo module extended over the entire width of the smartphone. Its 6.53” LCD screen is also one of its strengths.
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 662 chip is not a thunderbolt but ensures pleasant daily use. The camera is correct, nothing more.
The great strength of the Poco M3 is its price since it is offered at only 120 euros!
Another possible choice
Launched in August 2022, the Redmi 10 is an attractive alternative in this price bracket which makes it deserve its place in the best smartphone comparison under 200 euros. We have a 6.5″ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate which is better than most iPhones except the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max – covered in Gorilla Glass 3 for durability.
The chip is a MediaTek Helio G88 (12nm) which is a fairly capable mid-range chip with 2 GHz cores and six 1.8 GHz cores, all paired with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. The device has a dedicated slot for microSDXC cards and is available in four configurations, 4/64 GB, 4/128 GB, and 6/128 GB.
On the photo side, we have a quadruple sensor with a 50 Mp main lens supported by an 8 Mp ultra-wide angle, a 2 Mp macro lens and a 2 Mp depth sensor. The selfie sensor is 8 Mp. The device has stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.1, and a generous 5000 mAh battery.
This guide to the best smartphone under 200 euros stops here. Like our other guides, this one will be updated as the market changes. In the meantime, you can always tell us which model appeals to you the most.
Conclusion: which smartphone under 200 euros to buy in 2022?
As you can see, there are ultimately a lot of choices for a budget of 200 euros. However, if you read the description of each smartphone, you will quickly find that all manufacturers have relied on certain features to the detriment of others. Thus, most smartphones in this price range offer an LCD screen rather than an OLED panel. This is not the case with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 for example.
For performance, there are many references. However, only the Poco X3 offers a Snapdragon 732G truly optimized for mobile video games, in addition to an incredible 120 Hz screen. If it’s the photo that attracts you, we recommend that you rather postpone your choice on a Samsung smartphone like the A12, because the manufacturer integrates very good photo sensors in practically all of its smartphones. The other models rely more on the selfie sensor than on the main photo sensors, the rendering of which is often “cheap”.
Finally, autonomy is a subject that agrees with most smartphones in this price bracket. It must be said that this price range allows manufacturers to save money while choosing more enduring (and less powerful) chips. There’s also often a little more room in the casing, allowing manufacturers to fit larger batteries than in high-end flagships. The Redmi Note 10 is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery which charges in 1h30 via fast charging.
5000 mAh… like in the Oppo A76, or the Redmi Note 11. If you’re looking for more endurance, turn to the Poco X3 which lasts two days (and has a 6000 mAh battery). The Poco M3 is also equipped with a large 6000 mAh battery, as is the realme 7i.
