instant messaging application, WhatsAppis testing a new feature that will allow users to see the profile picture and username of other people they share with group chat.
This information will be available next to the messages that are sent within the conversation.
According to WABetaInfo, this function is found in the update 22.18.0.72 of the beta version of the application for the operating system iOS and it is unknown if it will also be available for the version android-beta. It is also not known if it will be implemented in the next update of the application worldwide.
Currently, group chats have a different feature regarding the identification of users who share a conversation. Profile photos do not appear, members who are not part of the contact list of a user are distinguished by their number of telephone (including the country code), and a random color is assigned to each.
In the event that users have been registered in the contact list, their names will appear at the top of each message they send in the group conversation.
As with reactions to messages, a feature that is already available globally, this new functionality cannot be deactivated and it will be enabled by default for all users, as reported by WABetaInfo.
WhatsApp Communities
Another of the updates that is being implemented in the messaging application is that of communitiessets of users grouped by common interests, a feature similar to the one already available in Facebook.
At the moment, this functionality is in the testing phase by some users, who have version 2.22.19.3 of whatsapp-beta for Android. Although it is known that it will be progressively introduced to the list of functions of other users around the world in the coming months.
According to WABetaInfo, this will not make WhatsApp an open social network as it is. Facebookwhere you can post photos and videos, but will allow private communication with other people who are not necessarily in the close circle of contacts.
