WhatsAppthe most used messaging platform continues updating itself to offer better experiences to its users. This time it will add a new tool for customers of Androidconsisting of blur all or part of a photo.

This update will be aimed at users who have Android as their operating system, since those who have the iOS application have had this function for a long time.

Depending on the site WABetaInfowho always reveals timely information about Meta platform updates, the new tool will be available in WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.22.7.1 through the Google Play beta program.

However, it is not clear if it will be a new function that will arrive soon officially and generally to users or if it will only remain as a beta.

how it will work

It was previously mentioned that this function added as editing tool that appears when selecting an image, before pressing the send button. Specifically they will be three brushes of different thicknesses that will help blur the area where they are placed.

They will be useful for blurring an entire image or just part of it to keep things safe like a phone number, someone’s face, or simply erase the background to add drama to the foreground. Supposedly, the option could appear also for video files.

This editing function is in addition to the crop and rotate, add emojis, add texts and paint tool that Android users have.

The option could arrive in the near future, although it is not known exactly when. However, it is best keep the app up to dateeither to get new features or to receive new patches in case the developers have fixed a vulnerability.

Why are photos blurry?

For those who have noticed that blurry images are seen in their chats and they cannot locate them in their gallery, it is because the photo was deleted. To automatically save photos to your device, follow these steps:

Android: Open WhatsApp > Touch More options > Settings > Chats > Turn on Show media files in gallery.

iPhone: Open WhatsApp > Tap Settings > Chats > Turn on Save to Photos.

Once a photo is downloaded to the device, it cannot be downloaded again. The contact would have to send it again for it to be downloaded. If you have an Android phone, it is recommended to save photos to an SD card.

Single view photos and videos

On many phones, simply taking a photo means it will take up space in the gallery forever.

That’s why WhatsApp added the unique display feature that allows sending photos and videos that disappear from the chat once the recipient opens them, giving users more control over their privacy.

Like all personal messages sent through WhatsApp, single view files are protected by end-to-end encryption, so not even WhatsApp can see them. They can also be easily identified by the new icon that indicates they can be seen only once.
