WhatsApp beta releases reactions for Status in new update

WhatsApp beta has started release this week the reactions for Status. The feature had been in testing for some time and was even distributed to some beta users in July, but the company ended up suspending the functionality for an undisclosed reason.

Now, after a few weeks, the reactions for Status have reappeared for some users of the beta program. It’s very simple to use: just swipe up to find eight reaction options.

The emojis available are: smiling face with heart eyes, face with tears of joy, face with open mouth, crying face, praying hands, clapping hands, party and one hundred percent.

When someone reacts to your status update, the emoji is sent as a regular message so you’re always notified when you get a reaction.

For now, not all beta users can react to Friend Statuses yet, but that should change soon. This is because the novelty is being distributed slowly and gradually, that is, in the same way as is happening with the new messenger security option.

WhatsApp beta starts releasing reactions for Status in new version

After allowing the use of any emoji as a reaction in the stable version, WhatsApp beta has now started to fulfill another promise: the feature is also available on the Status page.

The news was revealed by the staff of WABetaInfo after the last update start releasing the “quick reactions”. In general terms, the feature is very similar to what we have in Instagram Stories.

That’s because the user can react to the Status of a friend or family member with a smile or sad emoji, for example.

According to WABetaInfo, when someone reacts to a message, the emoji is sent to the contact and it is available as a reply in chat. However, it should be noted that the feature is not available to all beta users.

In fact, you still need to use a line of code to activate the functionality within the 2.22.16.10 beta version. In any case, the feature is practically ready to be released to the beta public and that could happen at any time.

It is also worth remembering that the Status page may soon receive the posting of audio messages, while the reactions in conversations will have a special reminder in the chat.
