WhatsApp is testing a text editor capable of editing images, videos and GIFs using tools and fonts very similar to those offered by Instagram Stories . According to the site specializing in the messengerWABetaInfo , for now the interface is only working on WhatsApp Beta for Android, but it should also gain a version for testing on iOS.

  • The feature was first seen in development in January;
  • The feature will offer options for different fonts, color palette, possibility of alignment (left, right and center) and changing the background color of the text — apparently, the new interface seems to be very intuitive, just like it is on Instagram;
  • Although some functions already exist in WhatsApp status, most are being improved or gaining easier access.

In the case of fonts, the app gained a few more options: Calistoga, Courier Prime, Damion, Exo 2 and Morning Breeze. Also according to the portal, some companies registered on WhatsApp Business are also already having access to the new editing features.

The trial version should be made available to more people in the coming weeks. For beta testers who want to check out the feature, just update the application version and go to the messenger’s status tab to publish an image (or check availability when sending a photo to contacts).
