What to watch today on Netflix, HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video: Monday, May 15, 2023

A series derived from the video game League of Legends shouldn’t be that good but Arcane it is. A dazzling animated fiction, which by force has to top any list of recommendations at any time of the year. Beyond this adventure, and leaving the domains of Netflixthere are other types of sinister stories, between drama and thug comedy, which are surely also a good option.

Arcane (Netflix)

American animation is experimenting in recent years, thanks to the cell shading hypervitaminated, a time of splendor. We could set the start to Spider-Man: A New Universebut the most spectacular stop along the way since then has been a series of League of Legends for which a priori it was not necessary to bet too much. And look at us now, waiting for the second season like spring rain.

Mare of Easttown (HBO Max)

From time to time Netflix launches bombings of that style. HBO, for his part, is more regular, and always manages so that all his series are preceded by a solemn aura of respectability. It is what happens a little with Mare of Easttown, thriller detective led by one of the most fascinating protagonists of 21st century television fiction: Marianne Sheehanperformed by a stellar Kate Winslet.

This body feels like death (Amazon Prime Video)

Mold crazy friday (either put yourself in my placeas we began to call it with the remake of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan) can be very helpful if you find the twist appropriate. Director of happy day of your death found him: a teenager (Kathryn Newton) swaps his body with that of a serial killer (vince vaughn). The consequences? As hilarious as inevitably bloody.

Roald Dahl’s Matilda: The Musical (Netflix)

It didn’t make much noise when these were released Christmas, but it’s worth your time. Assuming nothing is going to measure up to Dahl’s novel or the magical adaptation of Mara Wilson and Danny DeVitothe new Matilda is a good option to recreate yourself in this inexhaustible story, which now also has great songs like When I Grow Up either Revolting Children. The latter, with a high intensity musical number.
