On the occasion of the day photography International, TechMarkup sought an expert to learn how technology continues to permeate the evolution of this global industry that is tied to many areas of society such as art, advertising or design.

Ángelo Marconi is the regional manager of Sony’s digital imaging category for Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Central America. He analyzed global changes in photography.

Tahe perhaps the most relevant change in recent years is the elimination of the prisms or mirrors that the cameras had incorporated, this with the intention of redesigning the devices so that they are more compact and practical to use. The prism was the element that received the image and then returned it to the viewfinder, hence it was considered as the preview of the final photo.

However, this change in the cameras did not happen long ago, as Angello says that it was approximately 10 years ago when manufacturers, especially Sony, decided to give greater prominence to the size of the devices, dispensing with the mirror, these camera models are known as “mirrorless”.

This is not to say that prism cameras are no longer being made or that users no longer want them, in fact, note that professional photographers still prefer to work with this type of modelsince they are demanding and traditional in their way of working, all with the aim of achieving the best results and getting the most out of the mirrors.

But also, there are those who work with these new models of “Mirrorless” cameras and seem to have done very well with their projects, although most people are still used to cameras with a more conventional look.

“Photographers of events such as weddings say that when they arrive with a Mirrorless camera, the bride and groom believe that it is not a machine for professionals because it can become more compact and does not have that robust appearance, but They are devices that meet all the technical requirements to be used at a professional level.”, assures Angelo.

Secondly, the biggest evolution in photography is arguably the migration from analog to digital cameras, Well, this fact marked the new digital age in which humanity finds itself digitally, where external memories and cloud storage are used.

Analog cameras refer to machines that needed a development roll that was incorporated into the bodyin this way, when making a capture, the image was captured on the reel.

As a final step, people went to the shops to develop their rolls, which was done through a process that was carried out in a dark room in which not a single trace of light could enter, otherwise the roll would be damaged.

Now with the digital camerasthe photographs are saved in an external memory that is installed in the device, then they can be uploaded to the cloud and if the person wishes they can print them on various types of paper, that is to say that the workshops would no longer be used revealed.

Likewise, adding cameras to cell phoneshas meant that a greater number of people have access to take pictures without having great knowledge.

But Angelo is emphatic in assuring that cell phones cannot replace professional cameras, because they have a greater number of functions and features that at the moment a phone cannot cover, such as gigantography or bokeh effect clean and flawless.

In the words of the expert, cell phone cameras have contributed to democratizing photography and enabling users to develop basic skills that allow them to capture their most emotional moments. To future artificial intelligence is expected to continue to provide cameras with more tools and features like autofocus.
