McLaren fined for unsafe release of Norris during Dutch GP qualifying

After unsafely releasing Lando Norris into Yuki Tsunoda's path during Q1 of the Dutch Grand Prix, McLaren was penalised €5,000.

While Norris was making his way out onto the circuit, the AlphaTauri driver was returning to his garage and had to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision with the McLaren.

Both Norris and Tsunoda reported to the stewards along with team representatives

and they concluded that McLaren was to blame for the event that led to the team's sanction.

Norris and Tsunoda successfully completed their qualifying sessions, advancing them to the third qualifying round at Zandvoort.

Norris will line up in seventh as ‘best of the rest’ behind the Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes drivers

Tsunoda, on the other hand, outqualified teammate Pierre Gasly and will start ninth on the grid after making his fourth appearance of the season in Q3.
