We explain the scenes after the credits in “Doktor Strange 2”, because this time the knowledge of comics is not enough

The latest production from the MCU series re-enchanted viewers with additional shots after the end of the main action of the film. And what is the point in both scenes after the credits in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Insanity”? This time it is not enough to know the Marvel comics to fully understand what the director and writer meant here.

Watch out for spoilers from the ending of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Insanity”!

It’s already a tradition that the creators of movies and series about superheroes prepare surprises for viewers as part of the already famous scenes after the credits . More and more often we get several of them , as was the case with the latest Marvel movie from Sam Raimi, which hit theaters last Friday.

This time, viewers could count on not one, but two such scenes. The first one appeared  de facto while the credits were still in progress and introduced a completely new character, and the second was displayed at the very end. To understand the latter, in addition, the mere knowledge of comics is not enough.

Doctor Strange 2 : first post-credits scene

At the very end of the movie, Doctor Strange from Earth-616 fell flat on the sidewalk and after a while his third eye opened, while after a while as part of the scene after the credits he was walking on the street again as if nothing had happened. Snienacka, however, a completely new character appeared next to him, i.e. Clea from the Dark Dimension, played by Charlize Theron.

And who is Clea in the Marvel comics? She is a magical creature resembling a human woman who became the wife of Stephen Strange and his successor as the Supreme Sorceress. Omar’s daughter and Dormammu’s niece first appeared in the comic book “Strange Tales # 126” in 1964, and was co-created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

And what is the point in the second scene after the credits of ” Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Insanity “?

The first post-credits scene itself was a bit disappointed, because I was hoping that other members of the Avengers formation would appear in it and we would finally learn something specific about Disney’s plan for the 4th phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, the second scene was prepared not for comic book fans, but for Sam Raimi’s movies, and was like  a  shot in the face.

After the credits, the protagonist of the second scene after the credits is a Pizza Poppa snack vendor played by Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi’s longtime associate and friend; the actor previously had a  cameo in the Spider-Man movies. Now we see his character at the moment when the spell forcing her to beat in the face breaks. This theme is a reference to the “The Evil Dead” series.

What can “Doctor Strange 3” tell about?

The first post-credits scene in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Insanity” suggests that in the next film with Stephen, the theme of “invasion” of one reality on another will be touched upon. However, it is not certain that this thread will be touched on in the movie “Doctor Strange 3”. Equally, the heroes of Earth-616 can compete with their counterparts from some other dimension in the next installment of the “Avengers” series as part of the adaptation of “Secret Wars”.

We should also remember that right after the scene after the credits of “Doctor Strange” we expected that in the sequel the Supreme Sorcerer will face Mordo from Earth-616, but this …  was lost in action. It is possible, however, that Stephen’s former friend will return in “Doctor Strange 3”, because just as “Doctor Strange in the multiverse of insanity” was to show us the scene of the Baron’s death at the hands of the Scarlet Witch, the shot did not end up in the cinematic version of the film.
