The application Uber brings to the inhabitants and visitors of Mexico City a tool that will help them discover new places. It is about the incorporation of Uber Explore that with a single click presents recommendations to discover corners of the capital, including landscapes, events and even places to eat.

Uber Explorean option that proposes to enjoy new experiences, discover the hidden treasures of Mexico City and open a world of possibilities at your fingertips,” said Diana de la Fuente, Director of Operations for Uber in Mexico through a statement.

It was reported that at the moment Uber Explore will work as a pilot program exclusively in Mexico City, along with Madrid. Both cities were chosen, outside the United States; the Mexican capital for considering itself “as a spearhead” in the “innovation efforts” of the platform.

Uber Explore will show the user recommendations of different types such as: restaurants, museums, concerts, and plays, among others. These recommendations will be based on the location of the users as well as the rating of the place in Foursquare. Uber Explore will also suggest places nearby where you can eat, attend events, or just visit.

In addition, the application will give users the option to save your favorite places or events to consult them whenever they want.

The Uber Explore interface will be divided into four sections:

– Explore the city

– Local food

– Music

– Shows and more

– Night life

As mentioned above, these categories are based on information from Foursquarewhich allows users to see the profile of each event or place, along with the description, schedules, telephone numbers, websites and location.

De la Fuente said that they hope that users “open the application without having a fixed destination, and that they can consult the various options that cities offer them. That is why we have decided to launch Uber Explore in the wonderful Mexico City, to exploit the potential of places that exist here and deserve to be known. Uber Explore will help locals and foreigners to fall in love with our capital.”

In addition to this, the platform launched a tool weeks ago to strengthen passenger safety. security check allows you to see in the profile an option to define trusted contacts, activate PIN verification and RideCheck technology to detect anomalies during the trip.

Uber shares plunge in first quarter

In early May, Uber shares plummeted, after the company said it suffered a huge loss in the first three months of 2022 despite a rebound in its ride-sharing business.

The quarterly revenue in Uber’s travel unit nearly tripled from the same period last year, to $2.5bn, surpassing the amount raised by its food delivery service for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic sparked a boom in people ordering meals at home

But even though overall revenue doubled compared to the same period last year, Uber posted a net loss of $5.9 billion.

That loss was almost entirely due to the revaluation of its holdings in Grab and Didi in Asia, as well as self-driving technology company Aurora in the United States, according to the earnings report.
