Uber has announced that it will end its loyalty program, Uber Rewards. In an email sent to customers, the company explains the end of the initiative, without explaining the reasons or whether there will be another one to replace it.
Users will be able to earn points until the end of August and the last day to redeem them will be October 31st.
In the email sent to consumers, Uber thanks them for participating in the Uber Rewards program, but says the company has decided to close it soon to focus on the Uber One subscription.
Launched in 2018, Uber Rewards is a free program that allows users to earn points by taking rides through the app. You can use the points to earn discounts on future races and the more you earn, the better perks you unlock.
There are four levels of rewards: blue, gold, platinum or diamond. Among the benefits are drivers with better ratings, priority in support and boarding at airports, in addition to accumulating 4 times more points in trips on Uber Black or Comfort.
However, points can be accumulated during the six-month period and are reset after that period. You can currently redeem points for a 5% discount on travel or 5% cashback on hotel bookings through Booking.com.
Last week, Uber announced Uber Reserve in São Paulo for booking trips up to 30 days in advance. When requesting a ride, the user will know how much he will pay at the time of request. At the moment, it is only available in the Comfort category and can also be used in Brasília, Curitiba and Porto Alegre.
