Twitter releases editing and 10,000-character limit for subscribers

Twitterers – Twitter Blue subscribers – will be able to post tweets with up to ten thousand characters with bold and italicized excerpts, if they want. The Official Twitter Write page announced the news on the social network this Friday (14).

To give you an idea, ten thousand characters yield, on average, three pages of Word – or 1,5 thousand words, if you prefer. As for editing resources, the official page published that they aim to “improve writing and reading experience”. In this case, for those who subscribe to the Blue version of the social network.

Twitter changes

This is not the first time, in 2023, that Elon Musk’s social network has increased the character limit of tweets. In February, this ceiling has already risen from 280 to four thousand touches.

New limits and editing features signal that the social network is moving in the opposite direction of its original concept: to be a platform for quick and short thoughts.

In Brazil, a subscription to the Blue version costs BRL 42.

Twitter also permanently deletes accounts for this reason.

Content Subscription

Another recent novelty on the social network, announced by Musk on the social network on Thursday (13), is that users will be able to offer subscriptions for their followers to access exclusive content , such as long texts and videos of several hours.

To offer the subscription, the user must access the “Monetization” option in the Twitter settings. The content creator will receive all the money paid by subscribers, except for the fees that platforms such as Android and iOS charge. For the first 12 months, Twitter won’t take any percentage of the revenue, according to Musk.

According to Musk, subscribers using iOS and Android platforms will pay 30%, while for the web, the value is approximately 92%, depending on the payment processor. The owner of Twitter also said that the company will also help to promote the work of content creators and maximize their earnings.
