The latest developments in the use policy

Twitter announced on May 10 that it is implementing a new “copypasta and duplicate content” policy. This is an initiative that aims to combat spam and duplicate content. For copy paste the company refers to material that is simply copied and pasted from an original source and then shared by other profiles as if it were their own or original.

The social network first revealed in August 2020 that it would limit the visibility of tweets that are a simple “copy/pate” and now it highlights that measures will be reinforced to deal with this situation that is already considered a violation of the terms of use.

When the social network identifies such an infringement, it will remove the tweet in question from trending and top search results.

It will also not recommend the Tweet in the timelines of users who do not follow the account that sent it, however it will remain visible to users who follow the author of said Tweet.

On the other hand, yeshile duplicate content alone does not lead to tweet removal or account suspension, it will be subject to review. This means that eventually and after consideration they could be eliminated.

In some way, if several tweets that are copy/paste are linked to the same account, it could be suspected of being an automated system that publishes duplicate content; or of some other type whose function is to amplify topics in the network.

As usual, Anyone on Twitter can report tweets they think are in violation. To do this you have to click on the three points that appear next to the publication and choose the option Report Tweet. Then you have to select the reason for which the material is being reported and send the report.
