Twitter finally confirms it, it’s not a joke: there will soon be a button that will allow you to edit tweets

The news about Twitter seem not to end this day, because the social network just confirmed that you are working on a tweet edit button. Although it was not revealed when the feature will arrive, he did say that they have been putting their efforts into it for a year now.

Through a publication on the Twitter Commons account, it was confirmed that the long-awaited editing tool will soon arrive, which, noting that they have been developing it since last year, They rule out the possibility that it is related to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla.

“Now that everyone is asking… yes, we have been working on an editing feature since last year! no, we didn’t get the idea from a survey 😉 we’re starting testing within @TwitterBlue Labs in the next few months to find out what works, what doesn’t, and what’s possible.

And it is that the South African billionaire recently did a survey on his profile about integrating a button to edit tweets. Added to this, this April 4 revealed that he has a 9.2% share on Twitter and today it was confirmed that he will be part of the board of directors. Hence, the social network remarked that they were working on this since 2021.

Similarly, Twitter asserted that the function did not come out of a trivia like the one Musk did, detailing that They were already testing it on Twitter Blue to realize its full potential. Twitter Blue members have exclusive access to premium and personalized features of the app for a monthly subscription.

It should be remembered that the social network had said on April 1 that it was working on an edit button, causing disbelief reactions for the message sent on what is April Fools’ Day in some countries.

Musk will be part of the board of directors

Parag Agrawal, Twitter CEO confirmed the news this April 5 through his account in a short thread. “I am excited to share that we are appointing @Elon Musk to our board! Through conversations with Elon over the past few weeks, it became clear to us that he would bring tremendous value to our Board,” Agrawal noted.

For its part, jack dorsey, a former Twitter CEO, said he’s happy Musk is joining the company’s board. “I’m really happy that Elon is joining the Twitter board! He cares deeply about our world and Twitter’s role in it. Parag and Elon both lead with their hearts and will make an amazing team.”

Musk bought nearly 73.5 million shares of common stock in Twitter, with which he became largest shareholder of the groupahead of the Vanguard investment fund (8.8%) and the Morgan Stanley bank (8.4%), according to data from Bloomberg. By making him part of the company’s board of directors, Twitter would put a brake on him to prevent him from acquiring more shares.

In a document from the SEQ (Securities Exchange Commission, for its acronym in English in the United States) it is indicated that “while Mr. Musk is a member of the Board and for 90 days thereafter, Mr. Musk will not become, either alone or as a member of a group, the beneficial owner of more than 14.9% of the Company’s common stock outstanding at that time, including for these purposes the economic exposure through derivative securities, swaps or hedging operations.”

Analysts Daniel Ives and John Katsingris of Wednesday, predicted that the purchase could be the beginning of broad talks with the management of the social network, which could lead to an active purchase and a position “potentially more aggressive in the ownership of Twitter”.
