NFTs arrive as a profile picture on Twitter

Tired of crypto-bros on Twitter? You can now spot some of them at a glance. The social network has just deployed a feature allowing NFT owners to authenticate their digital assets on the platform to use them as an avatar. Users can then select a new option when changing their profile picture, allowing them to log in to their crypto wallet.

Currently, Twitter only supports five: Money, Coinbase Wallet, Ledger Live, MetaMask, Rainbow, and Trust Wallet. Once the NFT has been selected and imported, the profile picture takes the form of a hexagon, in order to stand out from the rest of the plebs and to be easily identifiable. However, the functionality is not accessible to everyone. It is currently reserved for users of iPhones and other iOS devices who have subscribed to the Twitter Blue subscription (not available in France), billed at $2.99 ​​per month.

Other Internet users can also consult the information around an NFT exhibited in profile photo by clicking on it to have more details on its owner, its collection, its certificates and others. And what if he resells the NFT in question? Twitter will continue to display the image regardless of what happens on the blockchain, but will retire the small hexagonal shape in favor of the classic circle.

How do I get an NFT profile pic?

A crypto wallet is required to obtain an NFT profile picture. Crypto wallets let you to store and deal with tokens controlled by your public wallet address (purchase, sell, convert, transmit, etc.). This includes non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are a sort of token.

To create an NFT profile picture, link your Twitter account to a crypto wallet that has the NFT you want to use. Only Argent, Coinbase Wallet, Ledger Live, MetaMask, Rainbow, and Trust Wallet are currently supported by Twitter. You must also have access to the URL where the NFT you want to use as your profile image is stored.

When you link your compatible crypto wallet to Twitter, Twitter will send you a verification request message to your wallet address, asking you to sign a request that includes your Twitter handle. Keep in mind that only signing requests from the Twitter.com domain should be accepted. When you link your crypto wallet to Twitter, you will never be asked to transmit money.
