Tomb Raider is the best video game adaptation

What’s the best video game adaptation? Opinions are divided, because transferring games to the big screen are not, to put it mildly, the best. Critics have their types and viewers have theirs. Compare the Marcet conducted a survey of people “experienced in playing games and watching viewers” – their favorite adaptation is “Tomb Raider” from 2018.

What’s the best video game adaptation? “Best” in this case is a relative term. Transferring games to the screen is not the best. While studios have already found a way to adapt comics, they still have problems with this medium. Of course, except for Uwe Boll, whose films like “Postal”, “BloodRayne” and “Dungeon Siege: In the Name of the King” keep the same low level.

Even mainstream video game adaptations tend to be rated no better than Boll’s works. Paul WS Anderson attacks us with CGI every now and then, and yet his “Resident Evil”, “Death Race” or even “Monster Hunter” are barely watched, which does not mean that they are not making money. Players are rushing to see more films, hoping that they will finally get a decent screen adaptation of their favorite title.

Tomb Raider – the best video game adaptation?

According to critics, the best video game adaptations are aimed at children. “Angry Birds 2 Film”, “Detective Pikachu” or “Sonic. Fast as lightning” reigned in the Rotten Tomatoes ranking for a long time (now on places 2-4, because recently they were surpassed by “Werewolves Within”).

It is known, however, that you do not always have to agree with the critics’ opinion. In fact, their tastes and the tastes of the audience rarely coincide. And so “rotten” according to the mentioned aggregator of reviews “Tomb Raider” may be the best video game adaptation ever. The film with Alicia Vikander took first place in the ranking based on a survey conducted in Great Britain.

The critics’ favorite “Sonic. Fast as lightning” won over 29 percent. votes, thanks to which it took the second position in the ranking. “Detective Pikachu” is only in eighth place, and “Hitman: Agent 47” closes the top ten. The best video game adaptations – new is coming

Gamers, critics, and Sunday viewers all complain about the video game adaptation. Hollywood has not yet found a golden mean to properly transfer the hit of another medium to the big screen. This, however, may change soon. In February next year, “Uncharted” is to be released in the cinema. In some time we will also be able to check how video games will work in the form of a series, for example on the occasion of “The Last of Us”. So we wait and see how it turns out.
