Improving technological skills is a necessity in today’s market. Being a sector that evolves and changes so quickly, those who are involved must enter into that rhythm. One way to do this is through international education and competitions, a method of testing knowledge and learning from trends.
In these last three months of the year, several events will be held, called hackathons, in which participants will be able to develop innovative products or programs on topics such as cybersecurity, programming, data, and others.
Polkadot Hackathon Latam 2022
This event takes place for the entire region for six weeks starting on November 10, 2022. There, communities of blockchain developers in Latin America who want to collaborate in the Polkadot ecosystem that focuses on all these new technologies will meet virtually. of the Web3.
The contest will have four categories Web3 / Blockchain Tooling, Smart contracts, DeFi and NFT. Its main focus is for participants to create an environment to make and break new blockchains, as well as learn from other developers.
Prizes of $140,000 will be given, as well as recognition from companies linked to the event. In addition, those who submit their proposals will receive expert mentoring and constant help through Discord.
Data Jam 2022
It is focused on Colombia and seeks to “promote transparency, access to information and open government as ways to combat corruption in the country.” Proposals directed to public data will be received to improve processes such as social control, accountability and, in general, the care of public issues.
The contest will be divided into three lines: usability of open data, transparency in hiring and other challenges of the country such as fake news and transparency of public officials. Those who participate must deliver a solution to one of these challenges.
The winners, who will be defined between next December and February of the other year, will obtain operating resources in benefits of up to 40,000 dollars, mentoring for project improvements and support to start the projects.
“The country is recognizing that it has a problem, this problem is corruption, there are currently more than 6,000 open data, with which it is sought that citizens can access information, this type of initiative helps citizens to do greater monitoring of management in a timely manner,” said Fernando Segura, technical director of the USAID Together for Transparency program, one of the entities involved in the contest.
game jam 2022
This contest is aimed at children so that they go with their parents and program their own video game.
Registration is free and is done through the GameMaker platform. Those who want to participate must be between 9 and 16 years of age. In addition, they will have access to a practical video game development workshop, designed by Crack The Code, specifically for the contest and thus be 100% prepared.
For this year the theme will be the fight and prevention against bullying, so the children will have to create their own story with characters and elements that are part of this problem.
Winners will have the option to win prizes such as Lenovo computers and tablets or educational scholarships.
