You have to imagine having an unlimited budget to create a festival with all the music of Spotify. What singers or bands would the reader invite? Some of them may have already been seen live. But of course, never together.

Now you can fantasize about this idea using a web page so that users can combine their favorite artists as if it were a festival: with instafest

Well, we must clarify that this will not happen in real life. All you have to do is let your imagination run wild and think of which singers and bands would come together for a hypothetical festival if you had the money, the contacts and the organizational skills to make it happen.

Simple as it sounds. The user goes to the Instafest page, logs in with Spotify credentials and that’s it. The app itself is in charge of creating a festival poster that shows the Spotify music that people listen to the most wherever they go. And then what? Well, you can share it with friends and acquaintances in the social networks.

What permissions does Spotify’s Instafest use?

Before using this website, it is important to clarify and be very clear about what permissions Instafest would use to access each user’s Spotify (and how risky it can be).

The first permit that Instafest requires is that of ‘Access your Spotify account data’. This means that you will be able to read your spotify username, profile picture, and public playlists.

The second permission that Instafest requires before creating your custom festival poster is ‘View activity on Spotify’, that is, the main content and artists, that the user consumes, listens to and has in their playlists the most, the number of minutes that they enjoy such artists, etc.

Is this unsafe? In principle, No. Under Instafest’s terms of service, such information you ‘read’ is not shared with third parties, nor is it stored outside of your phone. As TechMarkup’s recommendation, it is always better to prevent a third party from being able to access your Spotify account and activity information.

With Instafest you can imagine the dream festival

Now, having the aforementioned clear, you can proceed to create your own festival (or not). The idea is Anshay Saboo. If you want to know more about him, you can follow him on Twitter. Instafest is one of those places where a simple idea goes viral because it does something different, original and fun. Basically, create the graphic poster for a festival.

With this website, the user has the opportunity to choose the days of the festival, share the names of the artists and groups on the poster. You also have the option of selecting a publication based on the bands and styles of music that you usually listen to. And finally, you can baptize the festival with the name that is most personal to your liking.

To do all this, you have to go to the Instafest official page where you can see a sample poster. Then click Sign in with Spotify and enter your Spotify login details. Although this app is not official from Spotify, the login can be considered secure because it is done through the Spotify API.

A different way to share music from Spotify

Once the user is in the poster generator, they can select the period of time of the Spotify music that they want to project at the festival: last 4 weeks, last 6 months or always. Then choose one of the three graphic styles. And finally, leave the Spotify name or change it to a unique name. Then click Save Y Share.

On the other hand, Instafest has its share of mystery. You can download the poster in format png to share. Even if you choose to save the image directly, it can be done in format svg by right clicking on the image. And if you don’t see a list of singers and bands on Spotify, it’s because you haven’t used Spotify in a while.
