The Xiaomi 12, the next high-end smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer, is currently fueling the rumor mill! While both data sheets of the “Xiaomi 12 Ultra” series as well as the release date and the number of models have recently been leaked, a leak on Weibo has now revealed an important detail of the technical data.

A smartphone from the manufacturer, which at first glance is likely to be the standard Xiaomi 12, has received 3C (China Compulsory Certificate) certification. The specifications, which come from the Chinese certification body, confirm quick charging with 67 watts for the smartphone.

Xiaomi presented its new fast charging technology with 120 watts a few months ago. After it was used in the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro, there was great hope that the Xiaomi 12 would also benefit from it. Should this new leak be confirmed, however, it would mean that Xiaomi only offers the 120 W fast charge for the Pro and Ultra models.

Although quick charging with 67 watts is quite suitable for everyday use, it is far less exciting than the record-breaking 120-watt quick charge. My colleague Ben was at least amazed that the Xiaomi 11T Pro was actually fully charged in just 17 minutes in the test.

A wise decision by Xiaomi?

It would be quite remarkable if Xiaomi backs down here and possibly withholds a considerable sales argument from its new flagship. We also expect that the main competitors will upgrade with Quick Charging in 2022 and offer similar charging performance. Should this information be confirmed, Xiaomi’s decision could be detrimental to the smartphone.

But as you already let us know in an earlier survey a few months ago: The battery life of a smartphone is more important to you than the speed at which it is charged.

Do you think that the Xiaomi 12 really has to do without 120 W quick charging? Is the charging power a decisive factor for you? Let me know in the comments.
