This new series of high-end smartphones, which includes the Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro, was made official by the manufacturer in China at the end of December. However, until now, it is still not available in Europe.
But the good news is that Xiaomi would finally launch the Xiaomi 12 series to the world this March. In an article published recently, the Gizmochina site relays authoritative sources suggesting that Xiaomi could make the world presentation of its new flagships on March 15.
This event would be streamed online. And after this one, Xiaomi might start marketing Xiaomi 12 series in Europe and India.

Gizmochina also mentions the models that could be marketed in Europe. According to the media, Xiaomi could offer the standard version of the Xiaomi 12, the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the Xiaomi 12X, but also a smaller model which would be called Xiaomi 12 mini.
During the global presentation, Xiaomi would especially highlight the quality of the cameras of its new smartphones.
Xiaomi 12: competitor of the iPhone 13 and the Samsung Galaxy S22
The Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro are high-end models that will compete directly with the Galaxy S22 and iPhone 13 series from Samsung and Apple. Under the hood, both of these devices have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, which is the benchmark for high-end Android smartphones of 2022.
The Xiaomi 12 has a 6.28-inch OLED type screen, with a resolution of 2400×1080 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. On the camera side, this smartphone has a set of three sensors on the back:
- A 50 megapixel (1/1.56″) Sony IMX766 sensor
- A 13 megapixel ultra wide-angle
- A 5 megapixel telemacro
The base model costs 4,699 RMB in China, the equivalent of 514 euros. But the European price will certainly be higher.
As its name suggests, the Xiaomi 12 Pro has a more extensive technical sheet. The screen has a diagonal of 6.73 inches, and a 2K resolution. In addition, the Xiaomi 12 Pro takes advantage of LTPO technology which allows it to have a variable refresh rate which can reach 120 Hz. This minimizes the energy consumption of this screen.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro’s camera is particularly impressive, as it is made up of three 50-megapixel sensors. The main sensor is the Sony IMX707.

“This advanced camera system configuration improves light gathering capabilities by 49% over the previous generation. This enhanced capability combined with Xiaomi’s own Night Mode algorithm, Xiaomi 12 Pro excels in extreme low-light scenarios and enables more vivid shots. The other two cameras both use the 50MP JN1 sensor, the ultra-wide with a 115° field of view and a 2x telephoto lens for sharper portraits,” had explained the manufacturer after the presentation in China.
The Pro model also has a 120W charging system, which charges the battery in no time. In China the basic model costs the equivalent of 653 euros.
Finally, the Xiaomi 12X is a more affordable version which, instead of the Snapdragon 8 gen 1, uses the Snapdragon 870.
