The Witcher: Inception – how does the spin-off relate to the original series?

She is among us! Finally, the series The Witcher: The Origin🇧🇷 spin off of The Witchermade its official debut on Netflix last Sunday, December 25th.

Created by Declan De Barra, the work is based on short stories and fantasy novels written by the Polish Andrzej Sapkowski, as well as its parent series. In the main cast, there are Michelle Yeoh, Lenny Henry, Nathaniel Curtis, Dylan Moran, Francesca Mills, Laurence O’Fuarain, Sophia Brown, among other names.

According to the producer, with The originwe understand how many characters came to be and how the franchise The Witcher can continue on the screens.

Before the premiere, he said: “The prequel will tie in some of the fan favorite characters from the book into the series. There are discoveries made in this plot that affect the coming seasons of The Witcher and undoubtedly play an important role in the story. Lauren Schmidt – also creator of the series – and I spent a lot of time thinking about easter eggs that will surprise fans.”🇧🇷

As we well know, the series takes place 1,200 years before the events seen in The Witcher and explore, in addition to the formation of the first wizard, the “Conjunction of the Spheres”, when the worlds of monsters, humans and elves were unified, which generated several consequences. That is, the narrative shows the origins of all the conflicts that we follow in the original production.

The Witcher: The Origin it has 6 episodes in total, which should have been 8, however, De Barra revealed that, when analyzing the story, he realized that 6 chapters would make much more sense and would not give the series a “two-part movie” feel. Thus, the plot would have more cohesion and would please the public more.

Remembering that Blood Origin was created as a miniseries. That is, there will be no season 2, at first. The history of The Witcher will continue, therefore, in the 3rd and 4th seasons of the original work, which are already in production.
