The Witcher: Inception – Creator Explains Link to Original Series

After the completion of Tudum 2022, Netflix event, fans finally gained more information about The Witcher: Inception, prequel to the original series. In addition to the premiere date, creator Declan de Barra took the opportunity to explain how the story relates to Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer, and the other characters.

“The prequel will relate some of the book’s fan-favorite characters to the series. There are discoveries made in this plot that affect future seasons of The Witcher and, without a doubt, play an important role in history. Lauren Schmidt—also creator of the series—and I spent a lot of time thinking about Easter eggs that will surprise fans,” she declared.

While plot details have yet to be revealed, we already know that the story will explore the events leading up to the Conjunction of the Spheres, the period when many of the monsters emerged, as well as the origin of the monoliths. However, for more details, we will have to wait.

Also during Tudum, Netflix revealed that the series will premiere on December 25. That’s right, you’ll be able to celebrate Christmas by watching the new production! The series’ cast includes Sophia Brown as Éile, Michelle Yeoh as Scían, Laurence O’Fuarain as Fjall, Minnie Driver as Seanchaí and more.

The plot tells the story of the first wizard and involves producers Declan de Barra, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, Matt O’Toole, Jason Brown, Sean Daniel, Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko. Season 1 will only have 4 episodes and so far, there is no new information about a possible 2nd season. Keep an eye out to find out more!
