After 11 seasons full of emotions, surprises and zombies, The Walking Dead has come to an end. The year 2022 marked the end of the series and left melancholy fans, as many of them grew up following the adventures of the group of survivors who have to fight hordes of zombies and move between social and political conflicts. But not always the end is, in fact, the end, is it?

In the case of TWD, for example, there is a good side to this whole story: the franchise is already preparing some spin-offs, which will continue the plots of some classic characters from the saga. One of these productions will center on Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), a couple who left The Walking Dead before the conclusion of the narrative, but who will now have a series to call their own.
Still without a name, the series won a very exciting update yesterday (01) and that has already left viewers on the alert. In an Instagram post, Gurira revealed that the spin-off centered on her character and Rick has already started pre-production.

In the image’s caption, where she appears alongside Lincoln and author and producer Scott M. Gimple, the actress says: “#Richonne spin-off. 2023. Pre-production is in full swing. We’re getting there!”
The news comes as a shot in the arm for fans, who have been eager to know more about the status of the series. The post also hints that the work should not take long to reach the small screens, since the work has already started very early in 2023. In this sense, adding pre-production, recordings and post-production, it is possible that the spin-off debut later this year.

“The idea is that we wanted these quick little shots that let us know that Rick is still alive and struggling to get home, and Michonne is out there, and she’s still struggling to find him,” said Greg Nicotero, director of TWDabout the original series finale in an interview with ComicBook.
