Sony is preparing a new ANC headset. The successor to the two-year-old WF-C500 (pictured above) is the WF-C700N (model number: YY2968), which has received the necessary permits to enter the market in several countries, and has also appeared in the Bluetooth SIG database as a device using Bluetooth 5.2. It is still unknown what codec support the TWS earphones will have, but it is believed that AAC and SBC will remain, while LDAC will be available in the more expensive LinkBuds S and WF-1000XM4 devices.

According to a leaked schematic diagram, the design does not change dramatically compared to the WF-C500, and there will be no different options in terms of colors either. The new earphones will reportedly be made with black, green, purple and white plastic covers. What is somewhat more negative is that, based on the information so far, the operating time does not improve drastically in the WF-C700N, as the battery capacity of the earphones (0.27 Wh) and the carrying case (1.11 Wh) is the same as its predecessor.

Sony may launch the earphones in the spring, but there is no exact date yet.
