It has been ten years since the Samsung Galaxy Note, one of the flagship products of the Korean brand has stood out from the competition with an inimitable design, a hybrid between a Tablet and one smartphone. The latest model, a Galaxy Note 20 which had seduced the editorial staff of TechMarkup, will not have a successor, announced Samsung.
The series, nicely nicknamed “phablet”, gives way to the era of folding smartphones, and the highly anticipated Galaxy S22.
A flagship of the brand for a decade
Even without having owned one, it’s hard to forget the special design of this tablet which was not. It’s hard to forget its price too, which propelled it to the rank of high-end Samsung smartphones. Since its launch in 2011, success is immediate with more than 50 million models sold and the brand will continue to produce Galaxy Note thereafter incorporating a stylus, which further amplified the ergonomics of the product.
Its latest version, the Galaxy Note 20, which has already sold 3.2 million copies, was not the perfection long-awaited by Samsung fans. It displays major flaws like disappointing battery life and a tendency to overheat. Embarrassing problems for a smartphone reaching the 1000 euros mark. The production of this series officially ends at the end of 2021.
On the other hand, there may be a bit of Galaxy Note in the highly anticipated Galaxy S22, another starring series of the brand. By adopting a built-in stylus (built-in stylus), the Galaxy S22 will approach the style of the Galaxy Note, both in design and in capabilities. The S22, S22 +, and S22 Ultra are expected to be marketed, but the date has not yet been specified.
For Samsung, the priority is first folding smartphones
The Korean brand intends to reign in a relatively new market: that of folding phones. Its Galaxy Z series offers smartphones whose performance is matched only by price: the Galaxy Z Fold 3, with its 1,500 euros, costs less than its predecessor which was worth 200 euros more. These phones do not have a stylus but feature a generous display area. In addition, the persistent screen solidity issues of the first model have since been fixed.
Samsung’s folding sales are on the rise, with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has already sold five times more than the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is slightly more affordable, for around $ 800.
