peripherals, a new sci-fi series on Amazon Prime Video, debuted timidly at the end of October on the platform and has gained increasing prominence among subscribers. With a strong sci-fi story for fans of the genre, peripherals promises to deliver a surprising plot full of twists; learn more about the series below.

Based on the book of the same name by William Gibson, the story follows a young woman who, ‘trapped’ in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains, finds a way out in video games to escape the heavy routine.

When she discovers a new device that takes her to a London of the future, everything changes and, now, she and her family are hunted by dangerous people. Check out the trailer:

With Chloe Grace Moretz (kick-ass) leading the cast, the series also features Jack Reynor (midsommar), Gary Carr (The Deuce), Eli Goree (One Night in Miami…), Louis Herthum (Westworld), JJ Feild (TURN – Washington spies), T’Nia Miller (The Curse of Bly Manor) and Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders).

Although the series has not received extremely positive reviews so far (on Rotten Tomatoes it reached only 69% approval, for example), the production has an 8.5 rating on IMDb.

It is worth mentioning that Peripherals is yet another creation of the duo Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who worked together on the series. Westworld – one of HBO’s top original titles in its first three seasons – and Person of Interest.
