The Office: Actresses Remember Creating WUPHF.com for Episode; Look!

This Wednesday, the 19th, Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey recalled the work that the production of The Office had to create the episode ‘WUPHF.com’. The actresses’ comments were made on the podcast Office Ladiesa program in which they rewatch and comment on the series with fans since 2019.

According to Fischer, to create the fictitious website, NBC had to buy the rights to the WUPHF name. “Here’s one thing I learned. Whenever a website is mentioned on a television show, it must be fictional. It cannot be real,” the actress explained.

“Because of that, when the idea came up, they had to go through the process of buying the WUPHF.com, WUPHF.net, and WUPHF.org domain names. The production did it through GoDaddy and the whole thing cost less than $US. 100,” Fischer revealed.

In the episode in question, Ryan decides to create an online business called WUPHF.com. However, after its impending failure, he decides to sell the domain to the Washington University Public Health Fund, whose acronym is WUPHF.

Kinsey further explained that fans of the series were so involved in the episode that they started to access the aforementioned website. However, NBC did not save the information of any person who signed up because of the difficulty the privacy team would have in handling the data.

Currently, sites with the WUPHF domain are no longer available, but are still owned by NBCUniversal.
