The number of active Apple devices has exceeded 2 billion
Apple published the results of the last three months of 2022 in a press release on its website. Total revenue and the number of units sold decreased compared to the previous year, but at the same time, the number of Apple products in active use exceeded 2 billion. In 2016, the company reached the one billion mark, in 2020 it reached 1.5 billion, and at the end of the year before last, 1.8 billion active Apple hardware was in use. This includes all products, including computers and smartwatches. Google last published similar data in 2021, when they reported 3 billion active Android devices, which did not include devices on the market in China, only those connected to the Play Store.

Apple’s revenue from sales reached 117.1 billion US dollars at the end of 2022, which did not reach the 123.9 billion of the previous year. Since the company does not publish numbers per product category, only revenue, it can be seen that iPhone (-8%) sales decreased and iPad (+28%) sales increased. Compared to the previous year’s revenues, the services business was still profitable, with an increase of +6%. The company’s cash flow was $34 billion in 2022, of which more than $25 billion returned to shareholders in a cash dividend of $0.23 per share.
