The next Apple Watch could make calls and messages without coverage

Manzana could be adding a key connectivity-related feature to your future Apple Watch while also working on a new processor for Mac next year, Mark Gurman revealed in his weekly newsletter.

The Bloomberg journalist expects the Cupertino-based company to include a satellite connectivity feature on your next Smart Watches. The processor for Mac, on the other hand, could be the chip m3and would come first with a new iMac.

How would the satellite connection work on the Apple Watch

This technology would allow make and receive calls or messages in areas where there is no coverage thanks to orbiting satellites provided, and according to the information handled Until now, by Globalstar Inc.

Gurman, in particular, believes that Apple has been working with this satellite communications company. He also claims that Globalstar’s latest moves could hint at a future release of the aforementioned feature.

“In February, Globalstar said it reached an agreement to buy 17 new satellites to help power ‘continuous satellite services’ for an unnamed ‘prospect’ customer who had paid hundreds of millions of dollars,” the journalist has assured in his bulletin.

This is not the first time you have heard about the satellite connection feature on Apple devices. In August 2021, MingChi Kuo, a well-known analyst, announced that the company was working on this feature for the iPhone 13although it finally failed to reach those models.

For his part, Mark Gurman confirmed Apple’s intention to offer a satellite connection service to make emergency calls.

This would only work in certain markets with a limited audience; only if he smartphone has no coverage reception. It’s unclear if the next Apple Watch Series 8, due out in September, will come with this feature.

The M3 chip could be the big news for future Apple Macs

At the same time, Gurman assures that Apple is already working on the M3 chip, a processor of its own that could arrive at the end of 2023.

The Cupertino company, as remembered, plans to launch the M2 chip in the coming months. This processor will arrive with a higher performance than the M1 chip, but without reaching the performance of the M1 Pro, M1 Max or M1 Ultra. Therefore, the M3 chip could improve the performance of the future M2.

The first model with this processor is expected to be a new iMac. “If you’re looking forward to a new iMac, I’m hearing an M3 version of that desktop is already in the works, though I imagine it won’t be released until late next year at the earliest,” Gurman said.
