The Lord of the Rings: new films of the saga are announced

This Wednesday (23), The Hollywood Reporter published a report announcing the production of new films in the franchise of Lord of the Rings.
According to the American magazine, Warner Bros and New Line entered into an agreement with Embracer Group AB, which owns all adaptation rights related to the universe of JRR Tolkien.
It is worth remembering that the films will have nothing to do with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powera Prime Video series released in 2022. The agreement that Amazon has is completely focused on television productions, while that of Warner and New Line is for film productions.

In an official statement, Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca, heads of Warner’s film department, said that the projects will address new Middle-earth stories:
“Twenty years ago, New Line took an unprecedented leap of faith to create these amazing stories, characters and worlds. Lord of the Rings on the big screen. […] But even with all the scope and detail worked into the two trilogies, the vast, complete and breathtaking universe created by JRR Tolkien remains largely unexplored on the big screen.”

So, the narratives are expected to take place in the same era as the previous films, but approaching new characters and new adventures.

Director of the Trilogies Lord of the Rings It is The Hobbitalong with Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh who worked with him on the films, pointed out that they were already aware of the big news:
“Warner Bros. and Embracer kept us in the loop along the way. We look forward to speaking with them next and hearing more about their vision for the future of the franchise.”
It is worth remembering that the trio is responsible for making the films of the 2000s the most awarded trilogy in Oscar history, with 17 statuettes, 11 of which are for the last feature alone.
So, are you looking forward to re-exploring Middle-earth in theaters?
