The “Lieutenant Harina” sketch returns as a series for Prime Video

Flour, the lieutenant vs the canceller is the new fiction that came to Prime Video on March 9 to bring back a famous internet character. In 2019, a skit about a disastrous cop was posted on Youtube to become the most viewed viral of that year in Mexico after exceeding 43 million views. The comic sequence created by Backdoor was brought to television with eight episodes that recount the adventures of the protagonist and his colleagues, other officers of the Police Department.

According to the official synopsis, the title “tells the misadventures of Lieutenant Harina along with his partner, officer Ramírez. Both must catch a serial killer known as The Cancellerwhose goal is to end the life of influencers of social networks with a very personal seal”.

William Villegas brings Lieutenant Harina to life in this original platform production streaming In collaboration with ComedyCentral. The Mexican artist, who has stood out notably for his performance in comedy, has been part of productions such as Narcos: Mexico, Crime Story: The Search, It Happened One Day, School for Seducers, The Waiter and recently also appeared in the acclaimed Fire nighta film about violence against women in the depths of Mexico.

In addition to the protagonist, the cast of Flour, the lieutenant vs the canceller is composed of Veronica Bravo like officer Ramírez, along with Luis Fernando Peña, Dagoberto Gama, Gerardo Taracena, Ana González Bello, Juan Carlos Medellín, Daniel García, Luz Aldán, Alfonso Borbolla, Miguel Burra, Gyo Romo, Ishkra Zavala, Angélica Rogel, Lucero Trejo, Karla Sofía Gascón, Tato Alexander and Karla Farfan. The first season is made up of eight episodes.

In August 2019, the official Backdoor YouTube channel posted Floura three-minute sketch that went viral on the social networks of Mexico. “Police officers always make sure that the drugs they seize are real. To protect the law and human rights obviously. what other reason could there be?” reads the official description of the video that already accumulates almost 60 million views today.

The short story begins with officer Ramírez presenting the lieutenant with alleged drug packages seized by the authorities. When she comments that there was only one sample left to prove that she really was cocaine, the clumsy protagonist decides to try it himself and puts on quite a show in front of those present to give his final verdict… she is not cocaine, but flour. The situation made thousands of users laugh because of the satire centered on an inept and unserious police officer for fiction. After nearly three years, Harina has her own version of herself on the small screen.
