In the plot, Joel, a survivor in a world destroyed by a pandemic, and Ellie, a courageous young woman, must travel together across the United States on an important mission that could save humanity.
HBO’s The Last of Us is the first television series from PlayStation Productions, a studio formed by Sony Interactive Entertainment that aims to transform the company’s intellectual properties into films and series.
In addition to covering the events of the first game, the production is expected to also have some moments from The Last of Us Part II.
In April, Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), who will play Joel, said he didn’t play the title to prepare for the series. He explained that he didn’t have enough skill to finish him and preferred to watch his nephew play.
In July, HBO’s chief content officer Casey Bloys confirmed that the series is slated to premiere in early 2023.
