After years spent in the shadow of the giant Huawei, the now independent Honor begins to dream big. And now he even grows wings because, according to rumor, the first smartphone manufacturer’s folding kit would be in the boxes.
This is not trivial news when we know the massive investments that must be mobilized to achieve a device of this kind.
A smartphone in the style of the Galaxy Z Fold
Like OPPO, which is due to present its first folding smartphone very soon, Honor would also opt for a design instantly reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.
This is in any case what emerges from a first 3D rendering shared online by the informant Rodent950. This folding smartphone, possibly called Honor Magic Fold, would thus appear as a phone that is opened like a book so that it becomes a tablet.
Note that Honor is already drawing plans in the sky because another folding smartphone, in the format ” clamshell – clamshell, like the Galaxy Z Flip 3 – would also be in the works. This model could be called Honor Magic Wing.
The characteristics tour
On the characteristics side, we are already talking about an 8-inch interior screen offering a definition of 2200 x 2480 pixels (the refresh rate remains unknown). At the front, we notice that the screen is devoid of cutouts. We can conclude that the camera is either totally absent or integrated under the panel.
According to Gizmochina, the smartphone would be equipped with an 8-core processor with a Cortex A-77 clocked at 3.13 GHz, three A-77 cores clocked at 2.54 GHz and four Cortex-A55 clocked at 2.06 GHz. Features that meet exactly what Huawei’s Kirin 9000 SoC offers but which, as you can imagine due to the US embargo, cannot leave Chinese territory. If the Honor Magic Fold were to be marketed internationally, there is no doubt that the manufacturer would opt for a chip signed by Qualcomm or MediaTek.
Moreover, the device would be configured with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. We are also talking about a 4,500 mAh battery (with ” fast recharge », Without further details), and a main 108-megapixel photo module.
