This year there has been talk practically every month of the apple mixed reality glasses before a launch that has not yet materialized. Stronger indications point to the device It will make its long-awaited debut in 2023, and a new rumor says that it will start mass production next March. The real news, however, is that its initial availability would be much more limited than expected.

According to DigiTimes, the glasses of mixed reality of Manzana will be assembled at the end of the first quarter of 2023. This work is exclusive to Pegatron, one of the usual suppliers of the Cupertino company. It also indicates that the official launch of the device will take place in april.

However, as mentioned at the beginning of the article, the fact that the device hits the market in much smaller quantities than originally expected is really important. Specifically, it shows that the estimated delivery numbers today are between 700,000 and 800,000 units, significantly lower than the 2.5 million originally estimated.

The aforementioned outlet also suggests that Apple is aiming its mixed reality headset primarily at “Business market”, whatever that means, and that they will come at a high price. ā€œFor manufacturers in the supply chain, who benefit from bulk orders, this is not a particularly profitable order,ā€ they mention.

It will not be easy to acquire Apple’s VR and AR glasses

If the DigiTimes information is confirmed, Apple’s mixed reality headset will debut with a greatly reduced sample size. Note that ā€œunits shippedā€ is not the same as ā€œunits sold to the publicā€ because it represents the number of units that reach distributors or retail stores.

In any case, it is not entirely clear where the strategy led by Tim Cook. Are these glasses primarily a product for developers? Or is Apple looking to test the field with a small batch of mixed reality headsets, hoping to increase availability based on demand? It is impossible to know these days and everything that is said is simple speculation.

The report says that while it’s not Apple’s most profitable product, its partners are willing to dig deeper. On the other hand, because they believe it is the best way to demonstrate their technical skills and be considered for future projects. And, also, because working for those with the bitten apple makes it easier to get funding.

A new rumor about Apple’s mixed reality headset confirms the assumption that the will see in action in 2023. However, it is slightly different from previous leaks.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the people of Cupertino could announce the product in January so that it can be launched in the second quarter around the WWDC. In any case, Californians seem to have endless setbacks at the end of a product that has been more than 7 years in the making.

Reality One could be the name of the first Apple glasses

Apple has already trademarked the name of its augmented reality glasses to make sure no one else uses them: Reality One. Keep in mind that this does not mean that they are the definitive names with which it reaches the market. In addition, at the moment there are only requests.

Of course, the regulators still have to approve the Apple’s exclusive rights to use it, so that could all change by the time Apple finally announces its VR headset.
