On January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs presented a new type of mobile phone that was named the iPhone. On June 29 of the same year, sales began in the United States, followed by Great Britain, France, Germany, Portugal, Ireland and Austria. For Sweden, it took until the following year when the iPhone 3G was launched, but many chose to import the first model from abroad.
Many were questioning the venture, not least Microsoft’s then CEO Steve Ballmer who laughed at the product in a now classic clip:
Fast forward sixteen years, the iPhone has sold billions of copies worldwide and strongly contributed to Apple being the world’s most valued company.
Since 2007, Apple has released 38 models of the iPhone. After the first model that was briefly called Iphone, we have seen Iphone 3G, Iphone 3GS, Iphone 4, Iphone 4S, Iphone 5, Iphone 5C, Iphone 5S, Iphone 6, Iphone 6 Plus, Iphone 6S, Iphone 6S Plus, first generation Iphone SE, Iphone 7, Iphone 7 Plus, Iphone 8, Iphone 8 Plus, Iphone X, Iphone XR, Iphone XS, Iphone XS Max, Iphone 11, Iphone 11 Pro, Iphone 11 Pro Max, second generation Iphone SE, Iphone 12 , Iphone 12 Mini, Iphone 12 Pro, Iphone 12 Pro Max, Iphone 13, Iphone 13 Mini, Iphone 13 Pro, Iphone 13 Pro Max, third generation Iphone SE, Iphone 14, Iphone 14 Plus, Iphone 14 Pro and Iphone 14 Pro Max .
This year’s iPhone models are expected in the fall and we will probably see the Iphone 15, Iphone 15 Plus, Iphone 15 Pro and Iphone 15 Pro Max.
