Siri to be updated: ‘Hey Siri’ could be just ‘Siri’ – but could be delayed until 2024

Apple has been working for several months on a major change to how the company’s voice assistant is activated “hands-free”. Today, it can be done by saying “hey Siri” before the command itself, but in the future it may be enough to say “Siri”, according to information presented in Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter.

However, it is a task that requires many engineering hours as a lot of training of machine learning models is required to get the new command. It will take until 2024 before we see the change take effect.
