Scheduled to be released on March 17th worldwide, the film Shazam! Gods Fury just got a new trailer packed with action, fighting and destruction. Directed by David F. Sandberg, who also directed the first superhero feature, Shazam 2 is one of DC’s biggest cinematic bets in 2023 and promises to surprise fans.

In the film’s never-before-seen scenes, we see teenager Billy Batson and his family once again in trouble. Now, the boy who, by saying “Shazam”, becomes the powerful and clumsy hero, needs to stop the threats of new dangerous villains, called Daughters of Atlas, who intend to steal the powers of Billy and his brothers and sisters, who also acquired skills.

In the new trailer, the highlight is the fight scenes against a dragon that is controlled by Lucy Liu’s character. The humorous tone of the film even leaves room for a reference to Game of Thrones, also from Warner, when the hero calls the villain Khaleesi. Will the antagonist be as memorable as Daenerys Targaryen?

Shazam 2 cast and details

The trio of bad girls from Shazam 2 is formed by actresses Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel Zegler, who interpret the goddesses Hespera, Calypso and Antaeus, respectively. Remembering that none of them were present in the first film of the DC character.

In addition to them, the main cast of Shazam! Gods Fury features Zachary Levi, who brings the titular hero to life, Grace Caroline Currey, Adam Brody, Meagan Good, Jack Dylan Grazer, Diedrich Bader, Djimon Hounsou, Ross Butler, Asher Angel, among others.

As revealed at Comic-Con 2022, Shazam 2 will have a small time jump and show the young heroes a little older. However, in addition to fighting villains, they still have to learn to balance their dual lives.
