Samsung has been concerned with the concept of an extended display since ancient times, the first plans were registered in 2008, and then a solution was found in 2016, also within the scope of the virtual keyboard. The first concept was a bracelet that only functions as a monochrome display with a smaller, color display, with a projector installed in the back. This projected the input interface onto the user’s palm. The 2016 patent is already based on the Gear 2 and projects the keyboard onto the palm of the hand. Both ideas remained at the level of a thought experiment.

However, the topic still does not let Samsung rest, they have come up with a possible solution again, which is very similar to the 2016 concept, but it does not offer an input option, only an extended display. Curved LED lights and various lenses on one side of the watch body can virtually display the content on the display or additional information on a larger surface by projecting it onto the user’s body. The optimal display would be ensured by the automatic adjustment of the focal length and brightness. We wait with interest to see when Samsung’s dream, cherished for almost a decade and a half, will come true.
