We don’t have the release date for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE yet. But two new leaks: First, a certification with a large part of the specifications for China, and second, a 360-degree rendering of the new affordable premium cell phone from the South Koreans appeared.
- Certification in China reveals the code name, dimensions, and battery of the Galaxy S21 FE
- A leak from Evan Blass reveals the design of the smartphone
- The certification in the USA shows a charge of up to 45 watts
Some experts believed that the Galaxy S21 FE will be presented at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is scheduled for August 11th. However, the current crisis in production and inventory is delaying the start. It should also be mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE had its own unpacked event in September 2020.

Galaxy S21 FE certification in China confirms dimensions
However, before it goes on sale, the phone has yet to make its tour of certification bodies around the world. And one of them, the Chinese TENAA, not only confirmed the appearance of the model but also revealed some specifications of the Galaxy S21 FE, such as the dimensions and weight.
In the Asian country, the model will have the model code SM-G9900 (the last zero usually denotes Chinese versions of Samsung phones) and is registered as a 5G model, including support for two SIM cards.
The registry also reveals the dimensions of the Galaxy S21 FE: 155.7 x 74.5 x 7.9 mm (the width is given as “4.5”, probably due to an error in the registry). With its 6.4-inch screen, it is a bit more compact than the current Galaxy S20 FE. The reduction in height and thickness also leads to a reduction in the battery capacity compared to its predecessor: instead of a 4,500 mAh battery, the 2021 model has a capacity of 4,370 mAh.

In addition, we can also take a look at the images from the TENAA, which reveal a camera array of three cams, very similar to the design of the Galaxy S21 (test).
A rendering shows the 360-degree look of the Galaxy S21 FE
Speaking of looks: insider Evan Blass posted 4 animated GIFs on his Twitter account that show the supposedly final design of the device, which is identical to the certification in China. Each of the animations shows a different color – white, purple, green and black – with the same triple camera module on the back and a circular cutout in the display for the selfie camera.
The pictures also confirm that the S21 FE will have the power and volume buttons on the right, as we know it from the S20 FE and the S21 range. We can also see the placement of the LED flash next to the top of the three cameras.
Galaxy S21 FE with 45W fast charging
At the end of June, the S21 FE was identified in the database of the US certification body FCC with the code SM-G990U / U1 (the “U” usually denotes the models for the USA and Canada). There the device had also listed the specifications for the battery charge, which indicates a significant upgrade.
Instead of the up to 25 watts with which the models S20, S20 FE and S21 can be charged, the S21 FE should support fast charging with up to 45W with an optional charger. The model will be compatible with the EP-TA800 (25 W) and EP-TA845 (45 W) adapters, the latter with up to 2.25 A at 20 V or 3 A at 15 V.
The FCC also identified the processor used in the North American model as the Qualcomm SM8350, also known as the Snapdragon 888. For the other regions, however, there are rumors that the Galaxy S21 FE could come onto the market with the Samsung Exynos 2100 SoC.
Rumor about the Galaxy S21 FE: is Samsung canceling the main selling point?
Current rumors suggest that the Galaxy S21 FE release date is near October, until then we have updates from Samsung for the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series as well as new generations of its tablet, headphone, and Galaxy Watch models into the house with the new OneUI Watch.
