QR / Barcode-Scanner PRO: This everyday app (free) belongs on every smartphone!

Our today’s app of the day “QR / Barcode-Scanner PRO” does exactly what the name promises: It scans QR codes and barcodes. It normally costs 2.29 euros on Google Play, but is still free for three days. In this article, we explain why this QR code scanner would be worth its normal price.

  • QR / barcode scanner PRO scans codes and lets you create your own
  • You can call up scanned codes from your history and share them with friends
  • The app is ad-free and rated 4.7 stars for more than 100,000 downloads

Today we’re talking about the “QR / Barcode-Scanner PRO” app, which is currently available for Android free of charge instead of 2.29 euros. There are many QR code scanners on the market, and some smartphones can scan these codes natively. In my opinion, it is still worth the price – but all the better that it is currently available for free.

Why is it worth downloading the QR / Barcode-Scanner PRO app?

I said it at the beginning: The scanning of QR codes is a basic feature, which is sometimes taken over directly by the native camera app – or, at some point you have installed such an app. If you want to assert yourself in this market with your own application, you have to be able to offer something.

First of all, the “Smart Scanner” app is very easy to use. Most of the other competitors manage to do this, however. But there is a lot more to it: As the name suggests, you can also scan barcodes. You can save every code and call it up again at any time from the history.

If you like, you can also scan codes from images in your gallery on your smartphone. Batch scanning is supported, the app also works offline and is ad-free. You can easily create your own codes and both the created and the scanned codes can be shared with friends.

I find it particularly exciting that the flashlight is supported. Just at the weekend, I was standing in front of a club where we had the problem that the code for checking in was in the semi-darkness. Given this wealth of functions, it is not surprising that, despite a large number of reviews (currently almost 9,500), the Play Store rating is very high with 4.7 stars.

Is it safe to download the app?

The check on the Exodus privacy platform tells us that only two scanners are recognized. As in many apps, these are the Google analysis tools. Anyone who has waited for the hook on this almost too perfect app will now get their answer: Exodus also has 15 permissions that are required – and that’s really a lot. Some of them – for the camera, for example – are of course unavoidable.

But it is also asked for approval for the location, telephone and contacts. However, the developer explains that these authorizations are only required if you want to use the full range of functions – i.e. the location authorization when a location is scanned.

The bottom line is that the ad-free app is far outweighed by the advantages, which is why I will keep it on my smartphone even after the short test. Nevertheless, I am of course open to your suggestions if you think you know more exciting, versatile apps of this kind. Just write us in the comments!
