Pokephone go! Samsung launches a folding Pokémon smartphone

Partnerships between smartphone manufacturers and other brands are not uncommon. While the automotive world has had its heyday ( Huawei/Porsche , OnePlus/McLaren ), brands are increasingly attacking the world of pop culture.

In the field, Samsung is undoubtedly one of the most prolific. After joining the Marvel universe with Ironman or Avengers Edition models, the South Korean is tackling another pop-culture icon: Pokémon.

Pokémon open their claplet

Even if it means embarking on a universe that rocked a whole generation, you might as well associate it with a flagship model. Samsung has therefore chosen the Galaxy Z Flip 3, its latest folding smartphone in clamshell format, to seduce the public.

Technically, the smartphone does not change from the classic version. We therefore find a 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED screen with Full HD + definition and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Powered by a Snapdragon 888 chip, 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage, this Z Flip 3 Edition Pokémon is also compatible with 15 W charging (and 10 W wireless).

For the photo, Samsung relies on a dual 12 Mpxl sensor with a wide-angle lens (f / 1.8) and an ultra wide-angle (f / 2.2). The 10 Mpxl front sensor will delight selfie lovers.

This limited Pokémon version is therefore only distinguished by its yellow dress with the effigy of Pikachu as well as its packaging rich in goodies.

In the box in the colors of the Pokémon, there are accessories adorned with graphic elements from the universe of these little monsters. On the program, a transparent Pikachu shell, a Pokémon pouch with strap, a Pikachu key ring, a Poké Ball-shaped support and several cards bearing the image of the most famous Pokémon: Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Snorlax and mew.

The only disappointment for Pokémon fans, this limited version will only be available in South Korea. Do not expect a later marketing in Europe, Samsung has never opted for this strategy in the past. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 Pokémon Edition will be officially presented on April 25.
