Scheduled for March 12, the 2023 Oscars are getting closer. This year, the award reaches its 95th edition and will take place, as usual, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, bringing together the biggest stars and stars of Hollywood, as well as the most relevant films of 2022. Opening the list, we have the celebrated elvis, released in July 2022. With Austin Butler as the King of Rock and Roll, the film, which is directed by Baz Luhrmann, tells the story of the infamous Elvis Presley, seen through the eyes of his controversial manager, the “Colonel” Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). In this sense, the narrative presents most of the ups and downs of the singer’s life, including the controversies and challenges he faced throughout his career.
In addition to Butler and Hanks, Elvis stars Olivia DeJonge, Helen Thomson, Richard Roxburgh, Kelvin Harrison Jr., David Wenham, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Luke Bracey and Dacre Montgomery.
At Ocar 2023, elvis was nominated for 8 categories: Best Film, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Editing and Best Sound.
The Batman
Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman brings a different version of Man-Bat, a DC character that already has several films throughout history. Released in March 2022, the hero’s new feature features Robert Pattinson in the role of Bruce Wayne and has a noir feel, mixing elements of action and investigation.

In the plot, Batman appears in a darker and more merciless way and needs to deal with new threats that are being born in the city of Gotham. The main one is the serial killer called Charada (Paul Dano), who puts the hero in a game of cat and mouse. In this scenario, Bruce needs to cultivate new alliances to arrest the villain.
The main cast of the feature features Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, John Turturro, Andy Serkis and Barry Keoghan, in addition to the aforementioned Pattinson and Dano.
The production raised 3 Oscar 2023 nominations, in the categories: Best Sound, Best Visual Effects and Best Makeup and Hairstyles.
Navalny
One of the lesser known titles on the list, Navalny it was also nominated for an Oscar 2023 in the category of Best Documentary. Directed by Daniel Roher, the project centers on the events of August 2020, when Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was nearly assassinated through poisoning.
The incident happened when the man was on a flight from Siberia to Moscow. The plane even had to do a little emergency so that Navalny was taken to a hospital. Many accused the current ruler of Russia Vladimir Putin of being the mastermind of the crime.
Everything That Breathes
Another documentary available on HBO Max that will be present at the Oscars 2023 is Everything That Breathes, directed by Shaunak Sen. The work follows two brothers, who are responsible for a bird hospital dedicated to the rescue of injured black parrots in New Delhi, India.
The film even made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, one of the most prestigious in the world, and selected as the winner of the Jury Prize at the World Film Documentary Competition in 2022.
