OnePlus 11 disappoints in DXOMARK camera test

Just over 3 months after reaching the global market, the OnePlus 11 has just passed the battery of camera tests by the portal’s experts DXOMARK, showing disappointing results considering the brand’s partnership with Hasselblad. Despite being able to deliver satisfactory image quality, the device suffers greatly from a large amount of artifacts and instabilities, making it far from other modern rivals.

OnePlus 11 has good exposure but suffers from artifacts

The OnePlus 11 hit stores marking the return of the partnership between the Chinese giant and Hasselblad, Sweden’s legendary camera manufacturer, and bringing full-bodied specs on the rear lenses, at least on paper.

The triple set consists of a 50 MP main sensor with f / 1.8 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and optical stabilization (OIS), accompanied by a 48 MP ultrawide lens with f / 2.2 aperture and 115° field of view, and 32 MP telephoto with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and 2x optical zoom. There is also joint work with Hasselblad, with some different modes that try to replicate the experience of a dedicated camera, in addition to optimizations in color treatment.

According to DXOMARK, the device stands out for its good exposure; wide dynamic range in most light conditions; good level of detail and low amount of noise in photos and videos; and precise subject isolation in portrait mode.

The flaws would include very marked grid patterns in bright areas that have a single color in HDR photos; white balance instabilities and inaccurate color rendering in photos and videos; and halo artifacts (the whitish outline around people and objects) in more difficult scenes.

OnePlus 11: good camera that goes far from rivals

According to DXOMARK, reaching 127 points, the OnePlus 11 delivers good image quality and even brings good features, such as low noise and a large amount of detail, but it goes far beyond competitors also launched in 2023 due to the inconsistencies and artifacts it presents. The device ended up positioned next to the iPhone 12 Pro, launched in 2020, in the portal’s ranking and is more than 10 places behind popular recent models like the Galaxy S23.

The results are not catastrophic, but they are quite disappointing if we take into account the joint work with Hasselblad and all the marketing dedicated to the cameras and this partnership. The OnePlus 11 is on sale abroad with prices starting at US$699 (~R$3,480) for the 8GB/128GB variant. There is no official availability in Brazil, although it is possible to import it.
