Nothing New on the Front: Netflix Film Shows Horrors of World War I; Look!

Netflix released this Thursday (20) a new trailer of Nothing New on the Front (All Quiet on the Western Frontin the original), the latest streaming war drama.


Based on the classic novel of the same name released in 1929 by Erich Maria Remarque, the film “tells the gripping story of a young German soldier during World War I. In the trenches, fighting for their lives, Paul and his colleagues feel like the initial euphoria of war. turns into despair and fear,” says the official synopsis.

This is the third screen adaptation of the book, with the first version (1930) winning the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1930.


Despite not yet being available to subscribers of the platform, the Netflix film has already been shown at several festivals around the world and, so far, the reviews have been very good. At the moment, Nothing New on the Front It has a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Emmy nominee Edward Berger (Patrick Melrose, The Terror and Your Honor) directs the film, with Lesley Paterson and Ian Stokell responsible for the screenplay.

The cast includes Germans Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Aaron Hilmer, Moritz Klaus, Edin Hasanovic, Adrian Grünewald, Thibault De Montalembert, Daniel Brühl and Devid Striesow.


Nothing New on the Front premieres October 28 on Netflix.
