Not impressed! Pixel 6a passes DxOMark battery test and loses to iPhone 12 Mini

The Pixel 6a arrived in May of this year as the most affordable smartphone of Google’s current generation, focusing on delivering balanced performance, powerful cameras and good value for money in the countries where it is sold — again, Europe was left out of the list and not should be included soon.

Recently, DXOMark’s team of testers evaluated the device’s autonomy performance against rivals in the same category. Like other components of the internal hardware, the battery also suffered a downgrade in capacity compared to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro versions, with only 4,410 mAh and 18W charging.

According to the analysis, the phone achieved a low score in the autonomy test, earning 58 points and occupying the 76th position in the global rankinglagging behind models like the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, Apple iPhone 12 Mini and vivo X51 5G, for example.

Individually considering the topics evaluated, the cell phone scored 52 points in autonomy, 64 in charging and 58 in energy efficiency. The autonomy achieved was 2 days and 2 hours, with charging time from 0 to 80% corresponding to 1h11, while a full charge takes 2h12.

According to DxoMark, the Pixel 6a has more negative than positive points in all aspects evaluated by the portal’s experts. In summary, the phone exhibits high power consumption when playing music through the speakers, but during video streaming the performance is satisfactory.

In outdoor activities with GPS sensor enabled, performing video recording and phone calls, battery power is also drained and drops quickly. The charging time was not praised and is average for this smartphone category, taking 2h12 to complete a charge cycle (0 to 100%) with an 18W charger.
