Nokia C30 vs realme C11: which entry-level phone delivers more? | Comparative

Nokia C30 and realme C11 are basic cell phones that offer a very similar proposal to the user: to deliver a basic set that does not hurt the pocket, with some positive aspects to please more.
In this battle between entry-level smartphones, which manufacturer has the most advantage for the consumer? That’s what we’re going to discover now, in the TechMarkup Comparative.

Nokia C30
Starting with the design, we have two very similar phones from the front, but completely different from the back. They look like looking from the front due to the drop-shaped notch, in addition to having a large “chin” underneath. At least, you can tell which Nokia is, by the brand logo on the bottom edge.
Already behind, the Finnish brand bets on a centralized circular block to house the cameras, in a removable cover that has a texture to improve the grip. In turn, realme prefers a square in the left corner, which is in a smooth strip from the top to the bottom, where the Chinese woman’s name appears. This one also comes with a metallic tone on the back, which gives it a more robust touch.
Either way, both are made of plastic all over the body and don’t feature any toughness certification. At least, the C11 is a little more compact and lighter than its rival. In turn, the C30 responds with a biometric reader on the back, a security feature absent from the competitor.
These devices provide a triple drawer for two carrier chips and a microSD card. Too bad they don’t have fifth-generation Wi-Fi or NFC support. Apart from Bluetooth, still in version 4.2.
With few spreads on either side, we started with a tie.

Screen
On both sides, we see an IPS LCD screen with a resolution that is no more than HD+. The Nokia C30 has the advantage of having a larger panel, in addition to offering an above-average brightness level for the category.
On the other hand, we have greater customization for the color calibration on the realme C11, which also provides superior front-end leverage. Anyway, the refresh rate on the duo is no more than 60 Hz. And as you can imagine in basic devices like these, there is also no Gorilla Glass protection on the display.
On the one hand, size and brightness. On the other, better color customization and higher screen-to-body ratio. One point for each again.

Sound
As they are entry-level cell phones, we found only one speaker in each of them. The mono system prevents optimal immersion, but realme seeks to compensate with good sound power, even with the output located only at the rear.
The quality of the C11 also surpasses the Nokia, for presenting more defined bass and treble. At the very least, you’ll have a physical headphone jack on both devices, but only the C30 ships the accessory in the box.
Power and quality outweigh the presence of the phone. So it’s a point for the Chinese.

System
Both the C11 and the C30 come out of the box with native Android 11, in the Go Edition, the most modest version of the “little robot”. So don’t expect great longevity here with updates for the future.
As it is a very basic software, navigation is not so smooth and presents slowdowns, whether in Nokia’s clean interface or in realme’s personalized one. The mobile network isn’t fifth generation on them either, so you’ll just stick to 4G around here.
The system of the two comes with just the basics for the user, with one or another feature of the Chinese interface. Overall, the functions and apps are just what you can find on any Android device.
realme stands out for having an interface with more details.

Performance
Nokia and realme chose the same Unisoc SC9863A platform to equip these smartphones, both with 2 GB of RAM. How will they fare in performance? Despite the time victory in the speed tests, the C30’s little more than eight second lead doesn’t represent a big change, as both are well above ideal.
Moving on to the benchmarks, we see practically a technical tie in the indicators, which indicates not having a potential advantage for either side. These devices are far from being options aimed at the gamer audience. In practice, they will deliver games with medium or low quality, in addition to a very limited fluidity.
It doesn’t have a great performance highlight among them, but we still give the point to the Finnish, for the modest victory in our experiments.

Here we have a 6,000 mAh battery from Nokia, against a 5,000 mAh battery from realme. Which one delivers the best autonomy? The Finnish uses the larger number to provide almost seven hours more away from the outlet, with more than 29 hours in total.
When we go to charging, the duo only comes with a 10W adapter in the package. At this point, the Chinese get the best, for having to stay 1 hour and 20 minutes less connected, until reaching 100%. Either way, none of them do this process quickly.
The C30 stands out for its greater autonomy; while the C11 scores for charging in less time.

Camera
Nokia has inserted two rear cameras in its base, while realme has only put one main one. The Finnish’s 13 MP sensor doesn’t excite, but it still manages slightly higher records with HDR on, compared to photos taken with the Chinese’s 8 MP lens, which mainly lacks dynamic range. At night, we have grainy catches in both cases.
The C30 even has a second blur camera, which generates a good effect, but suffers from cropping in complex locations. Still, it does a better job than the C11’s software-only portrait mode.
By having a slightly better performance overall, the Nokia C30 gets the point here.

Finnish and Chinese shoot videos are limited to Full HD resolution on the rear. They sin in not offering any stabilization system, in addition to the focus being very slow, which can get in the way of having decent footage. To top it off, the sound capture is only mono.
Neither device has an advantage over the other. So we give it another draw.

On both sides, you will find a 5 MP front camera. Selfies are reasonable and should cater to those who will only post on social media. At night, the noises are much more evident. The problem is their portrait mode, which leaves the background blown by dispensing with HDR. Front-facing footage is also limited to Full HD.
Again, we have one point for each.

Price
The Nokia C30 arrived in Brazil at a suggested price of R$1,300, more expensive than the R$1,000 charged at the launch of the realme C11. In the national market at the moment, the Chinese one is still cheaper, around R$ 600, against something close to R$ 800 for the Finnish model.
Thus, the realme device closes the Comparative with the last point.

Conclusion
We practically had a tie between these two basics. Because they have similar configurations, many items end up not having a big advantage for either side, or there is a balance between what is good in each one. Anyway, we have points to highlight in them.
The Nokia C30 is the only one of the duo to have a biometric reader, in addition to having a bigger and brighter screen, a slightly faster performance and a bigger battery. Not to mention its set of rear cameras, which still achieves better results than the competitor.
On the side of the realme C11, the highlights are the more compact and lightweight design, the display with better frontal use and customizable colors, in addition to the higher quality sound. Its system interface has more features, in addition to its battery charging faster. But what will give the victory to the Chinese is the price in the Brazilian market, which is cheaper than the rival.
