Netflix’s The Exorcist is getting a reboot starring a teen star

According to what the portal disclosed deadlinethe young actress Lidya Jewett was recently cast as the lead in the reboot of The Exorcist, a project that Blumhouse Productions has been developing in partnership with Universal Pictures for Peacock. Thus, Jewett joins Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd and Ellen Burstyn – from the 1973 film – who had already been announced earlier.

Scheduled to be directed by David Gordon Green, the production will be set years after the frightening possession seen in the original feature film, released in the mid-1970s and currently available on HBO Max. According to what has been disclosed so far, for the reboot to happen, the rights to William Peter Blatty’s work were acquired for about $ 400 million.

Everything indicates that the practical work with the filming should start very soon, mainly because there is an expectation of release for the month of October of this year.
