If before the television chose by users and told them what to watch and when, now it is the viewer who has the right to choose.
The problem is that there are so many options and it can take an hour or more to decide what to look at. This is a need that streaming platforms are trying to solve and, little by little, are introducing new features so subscribers can spend less time playing a title on Netflix.
From the aforementioned, TechMarkup has compiled 6 tips and tricks so that you can watch Netflix movies and series without spending so much time searching among so many platform offers.
1. Manually edit the ‘Keep Watching’ option
This option will be useful, since you can edit the titles of the option Continue watching and thus eliminate what is no longer interesting, so that Netflix never remembers it. It will also help you find what you want to keep watching faster, so that really is a big plus.
From the website or with the latest version of the Netflix app, simply place the cursor over the carousel (list of options). and then hover over the row title.
In it mobile device, play Menu and see what options you have. To select Remove from queue.
Another option is remove titles from Watch History so that they are also removed from Continue Watching.
2. Use the ‘My list’ function
It is one of the classics, but it is the best way to have everything that matters so that it does not fall into oblivion.
While searching for the new movie to watch, or simply because the platform recommends through different carousels, it is common to find the movies of interest to watch, but at this point you cannot start. It is better to add them to the list without fail.
This list is the first to visit when you don’t know what to watch and are looking for a new movie or series for a certain time. Many people will be surprised at the things they forgot to see.
3. Apply filter to make content more accurate
Netflix content is divided into categories, but the organization can be very general. Maybe you want to see a comedy, but from the last decade. Or otherwise. Perhaps you prefer 90s action movies for the whole family.
You can apply all of these filters to get results closer to what you want. For now, is only available in the mobile app.
To use it, simply sign in to the Netflix account.
On the cover, at the bottom, there is a button that says ‘Filter’. This is where you can customize what you most want to see.
4. Filter movies and series by actor or director
As in the previous point, you can filter the search by the director or actor you like the most.
That way, you will not only update the options that the platform gives you for each option, but even titles could be found that were not known and, in the best of cases, they end up liking the user.
It’s easy to do: locate the search magnifying glass icon and write the term you want to search for.
5. Change the speed of what is being viewed
If it is about watching series and movies without the user taking so long, the trick that cannot be ignored is changing the display speed.
While viewing the content, touch the screen for the controls to appear.
At the bottom left you have a speed. Touch it and choose the speed you want.
6. Discover the hidden genres
The Netflix catalog is endless, full of movies and series that are not particularly interesting and those that you probably want to see are hidden.
Surely more than once a user has wondered how to jump directly to the genre they love. Well, there is a quick option, but it is only worth seeing if you look at it from the computer.
There are codes that can be added to Netflix links that lead directly to specific categories that you might not otherwise be able to find. To the following URL https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/you have to add a numeric control at the end according to the genre you want to see.
They are quite a few. TechMarkup made an article about all the codes that can be found, but then one is left list of the most interesting:
– Animation for adults (11881)
-Feature films about ferocious bugs (6895)
– Foreign Classic Movies (32473)
